Full Front Porch Rebuild From the Footings Up

A failing porch is more than an eyesore. When the decking is rotted through, the framing is shot, and the structure underneath has completely given way, it becomes a real safety hazard - one that gets worse the longer it sits. That's exactly what we were dealing with here.

The before shots tell the whole story. Severely deteriorated decking, peeling paint down to bare wood, crumbling porch skirting, and a foundation pier that had clearly been failing for a long time. There were actual gaps in the floor. The old structure had nothing left to give. Patching it wasn't an option - this one needed to come all the way down.

We started from scratch. New footings, new structural posts set in concrete, treated framing throughout, and fresh decking boards laid clean and tight across the full width of the porch. We also built out both stairways - one on each side - and installed solid wood railings to bring everything up to where it should be. Every piece of lumber is pressure-treated, which matters a lot for a covered front porch that still sees moisture and humidity.

What we ended up with is a porch that's actually safe to walk on, looks sharp from the street, and is built to hold up for years. It went from being a liability to being one of the best-looking features on the front of the house. That's the kind of difference a full structural rebuild makes - not a quick patch, but a real fix done right.
